Life through the lens...

Sea, seals and macarons

A glorious start to the day.
We checked out after a hearty breakfast ( not the best I have had, but OK) and droveto Flamborough Head, and parked by the lighthouse.
It must be about 50 years since our last visit.
The blue sky couldn’t have been bluer. However with the sun being so bright it was casting some long shadows, and taking photographs wasn’t easy.
Certainly not grumbling though as it was just fabulous up there on the cliff tops, walking along the coastal path. Maybe a bit of a chilly wind, but we were well wrapped up.

We got chatting to a couple who lived near by, and they pointed out the seals sunning themselves down in the cove.
They said each year there seem to be more, and counted about 50 today.
Not sure if these are common seals, or grey seals. I’m sure someone blipper will know.

It was then a quick drive back into Brid. to pickup a pair of glasses which I had left behind in the cafe yesterday.
Glad they had found them on the chair where I had put them along with bag, camera, scarf and gloves. Mr C was very understanding!
Put it down to a ‘ senior moment ‘!

We then popped into Malton on the way home.
Now noted as being the ‘ Yorkshire Food Capital ‘.
After driving round for about 15mins, and not finding anywhere to park. ( wouldn’t like to go when it is busy). I finally spotted a place in Sainsbury’s car park. A very small one, and max. time 60mins.
So we didn’t have much time.
However I managed to find the shop I had come to see.
Florian Poirot, Master Patissier. Who comes from Nancy in France.
The Hairy Bikers visited his shop last year.
He is famed for his macarons, and sowe treated ourselves to a small box.

So now back home and relaxing after a truly wonderful couple of days. Made extra special by the glorious weather.

A big thank you to those who made comments, and gave hearts and stars for yesterday’s snowdrops.
Not often I reach popular page 2.
So glad you liked the photos.

Looking forward to visiting the East Coast again in summer when we go to see the sea birds nesting at Bempton.
Something else we missed last year because of Covid.
