Final fab day
Today was the last of 4 intensive days with my camera, trying to learn from the masters. As you can see, this shot is riddled with mistakes, most notably the back-drop not filling the whole shot, but I've gone with this anyway. As I said yesterday, I've found this studio work so much harder than being out on location. Too many things that you can't leave to chance. A little step forward and the subject is plunged into darkness. Im sure this would have been second nature to me, had I been better at science.
When I first met with these photographers, there was the intention that I could eventually cover the odd wedding shoot for them. Initial dates banded about were in October. Then I was offered a date for August, and this evening one in May! Getting closer and closer to popping my wedding shoot cherry! Just love all the places and people this could lead me to. Hopefully this first one should be a gentle introduction as the couple dont want half of the usual shots, like the bridal prep, they just want a few ceremony and some of the guests in the evening.
I feel totally wired this evening, which is weird as I felt my shots were the worst of the 4 days today. We shot such an interesting bunch though and I found it humbling listening to them talk about theirs lives and their talents. One girl was 14 and already an accomplished flute player, another lady, middleaged, a sculptor, who always knew this was what she needed to do, but had to wait for the exact right time in order to make sure she got there. She doesn't feel it was time wasted as all those experiences are inside her now and feeding through her into her sculptures. There are some incredible people out there.
