The fastest creature on earth

We caught the end of a birds of prey display yesterday. This is a Peregrine falcon which can fly at speeds of up to 242 miles an hour (390 kph) when diving down on its prey.

Weather wise: the country is closing down ahead of storm Eunice. Trains and planes have been halted, schools and entertainment venues shut. People are being advised to stay at home. Our friends left suddenly for home last night, they live down on the south coast where winds are expected to reach up to 98 miles an hour early this morning. We will leave very early today but live in a slightly more sheltered area..
