Basking
in the unexpected sunshine this morning are these two pots of pretty little Iris reticulata. I moved the pots for the photo as they are on the steps which don’t get the morning sun. I blipped the first one that opened on the 6th February and now we have several with still more to open. Great for Flower Friday and more still to come planted out in the garden.
Should have walked this morning but left arrangements until seeing what the weather was going to do. Didn’t hear my neighbours text but did hear Wilsden Walker’s response that she had just woken up and it was too late. Too late for me too!
Storm Eunice has made it’s presence felt in the SW. My daughter’s school has closed early for half term as have all the schools in Somerset and other S Western areas including Wales. The nursery was closed too so Grace braved the elements and took the girls to the shops, not something they normally experience but they they seemed to enjoy it.
You can see my lovely girls in the extra.* coming soon!
When they got home the roof on the garden shed had blown away. Grace has only found the felt so who knows where the rest has gone.
I got a text saying Grace’s friend was stuck in Birmingham. Not that surprising as a lot of transport has been stopped. I’d forgotten that she was coming down from Manchester to travel to London with Grace tomorrow to see Moulin Rouge. We booked the theatre tickets together back in the summer when Grace got early notification of them going on sale.
Zoe has gone back to Manchester and will hopefully meet Grace in London tomorrow. I do hope they get to see it. We were lucky and saw it on our London trip in December as it closed two days later because of Covid.
So many things that can disrupt plans at the moment and the weather is bonkers. We’ve got heavy rain now but the wind is no worse than on Wednesday with Storm Dudley. There have been pictures of snow on the lunchtime news but a bit further north than here. Well just have to wait and see!
Hope you all have a good, storm free weekend!
Roll on Spring!
