Eunice : I heard you singing in the wires …

Storm Eunice blew in on a red carpet of warnings. I took this picture on my way to the postbox first thing.

All schools were closed. Everyone was urged to stay at home. It was almost like another lockdown day. By 1000 it clouded over. Our fences shoogled quite a bit. Our neighbour came round to help us tether it to a post we had sunk in our lawn. It worked.

An hour later the storm had blown through. We had got off very lightly. There was no storm surge coinciding with the spring tide. We did wonder if closing all the schools today had been really necessary? The evening tv news spent 15 minutes telling us how bad the storm had been. We did wonder if we now live in a completely risk averse world?

In the late afternoon we walked round to our local family’s house. It was the first time we had been there this year due to Covid constraints. It was lovely to meet the new fish, see their latest Minecraft constructions and be brought down to earth by being soundly beaten in a Play Station car race!
