"One For The Lads"
...Yes, one for the lads, but I'm always interested in what these machines are doing anyway...this one is an excavator, only a small one, a 20 tonner (in lad's terms, as per John) and it was one of 3 replenishing sand up along the beach ... the jetty in the background, still as busy as yesterday...so many tourists with cameras, enjoying the lovely weather of the moment...and on the other side of the jetty so many sunbathers and people enjoying the calm waters...
...We watched the sand digger travel along the beach alongside of us whilst we walked up to the place where we joined our old friend for lunch, and the driver had to navigate his course along the beach without running over some over the sunbathers on the sand...although I'm sure they would hear him coming anyway...but no-one moved, so his navigational skills were imperatively good...
Apparently, this excavator had done it's day's work and was going to another job, and this shot shows it being loaded upon a low-loader - the same driver also had to negotiate that small area as well ,with the waiting low-loader.. so that he could get the machine onto the back of it, which he did very confidently...they're good, these operators, for sure..no-one else to help, just himself..and off he went, possibly until tomorrow if he was needed..
Our last day at the beach, and so, off into the skies once again tomorrow, and back to our river town.. it's always nice to have a change of scenery and we certainly had some adventures with Specialists, and caught up with my lovely SA family and one of our good friends - but it'll be nice to return home to some peace and quiet...
