Twosday

Today is unofficially being labelled as "Twosday”, due to the arrival of possibly the greatest palindrome we will see in our lifetime!

February 22, 2022, written out numerically is 22/2/22. Not only is it a palindrome because it reads the same forward and backward, but what makes it special is the date has all twos. It will also be the same no matter what part of the world you're in, regardless if your country uses the day-month-year or year-month-day format. It also happens to fall on a Tuesday.

The date is so rare the National Weather Service says a "Twosday" won't happen again for another 400 years in 2422.
The ultimate palindrome will occur at 2:22am/pm (as seen in my blip), or at 22:22 military time.

It is also an ambigram, in that on a calculator it can be read upside down in exactly the same way.

This has only happened once before, more than a thousand years ago on 11.01.1011

Earlier this month, we had 2.2.22.

This has happened twice before with the dates 1/11/11 and 11/11/11, and the next one will not occur for another 11 years – 3/3/33.

There will also be the 22.2.2222, but that will fall on a Friday. :-)
