The Big Brew

I can't remember how many years it was since the first Big Brew In Dunscore. That event was a small one, in the village cafe (sadly now closed) to raise awareness of Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight, with coffee, tea and home baking for a donation to Traidcraft. Dunscore is a Fairtrade Village (the first in Dumfries & Galloway) and the event was always well-supported.

Today's Big Brew was  lovely,, and I think people are so relieved  to be back at community events after two years of Covid. There were all kinds of stalls selling Fairtrade and locally-produced goods. Here is my friend Joanna (known on here as Flowerdancer) selling her beautiful jewellery, You might notice that there is a yellow and blue theme here, which matches the colours of the Ukrainian flag. Joanna was keen to do whatever she could to help people in Ukraine, so she made a special necklace and pair of earrings and is asking for donations to UNICEF; donors get a chance to win the jewellery.

Sarah and I couldn't stay here for too long as we were going out for lunch at The Boathouse in Glencaple - sarah's friend had had to cancel, so she took me out instead, which was a really nice treat. We went for a walk at Caerlaverock afterwards with Jess, so everyone was happy :-)
