Putting a Little Step in our Spring
Since today was our only chance to see all the TN family together, we left Wytheville early. There were so many flowering trees and shrubs along our way - spring is here! We arrived at the kids’ house in time for lunch. I treated the gang to some yummy Mexican fare. Looking for a family outing, Hubby found the “Seven Islands State Birding Park” not far away. I love the barn quilt at the entrance. We saw a few birds and could hear others in the trees and frogs in the ponds. There were many deer resting on the hillside, oblivious to the humans. I had to include the bird’s nest, it is the tiniest I have ever seen. Naturally, I left my binoculars and good camera at the hotel. Along the path, a pedestrian bridge took us over the French Broad River to the largest island but we never figured how to find the smaller ones. We enjoyed the time with Bob, Mike, Riley and Jillian. This is my first visit to TN since COVID. And it was our first long hike (about 3 miles) since being couch potatoes all winter. After a huge meal and a robust hike, we were all ready for a nap. Riley completed his high school classes yesterday so he will enroll in a tech school for industrial electricians soon. Jillian is a Junior in high school. She wants to study cosmetology. Granddad has saved enough to pay for both. I hope they appreciate his generosity; Abby does as he is covering her first two years of college tuition also. We plan to go to my favorite fast food joint in TN for dinner. Buddy’s has the best BBQ and wings! So, our visit will be short but everyone will enjoy the time we spent together. They will all be back at school and work at different times tomorrow. That will give us more one on one quality time with each person. We will have to find indoor activities as we expect it to be rainy. Thanks for dropping by. Be safe. The news from Ukraine get worse every day. “Don’t count the days.
