Proud of This One!
My daughter Sabrina has been a social worker for 20 plus years and before that worked in the 3rd sector with Drug Addicts and Alcoholics. As a social worker she she was initially in Children and families and then for the past
6-7 years in Barlinnie Prison dealing mainly with paedophiles and domestic abusers. Now she has had enough and for the past few months has been training - alongside her SW job to be a Clinical Skincare Specialist.
At first I must admit I was a bit dubious about the whole thing because my first thought was (and I think most people would say the same) ugh pumped up lips! However, she has made me realise that there is more to her new career than I ever knew. During her hands on training in Glasgow they were taught that less is definitely more. Models came in to the training academy and had treatments at reduced prices, much the same as you can do at the hairdressers. She said many of the clients just wanted something fixed like acne scarring, or an uneven lip which has made someone self conscious since their teens and yes some wrinkle filling as well as the usual feel good facials etc.
She said after years of working in an environment that could at times be quite depressing, she was able to make people feel happy and the clients left feeling good about themselves.
She already has a premises in Airdrie which she rents from a Polish girl who will also work in the same shop doing manicures and they also have a young guy who has just come on board with his hairdressing business. A one stop shop where you can get everything done. She will still have to work for a while as a SW until she is established. Her business is called
Breagh - Scot’s Gaelic for beautiful. I wish her all the luck in the world with her career change.
This morning I took Bella May up the track as Frank wasn’t feeling up to it.
We met a really nice man - Matt and his little girl Emma aged 7 and their two dogs Pello an old boy Collie and Rosie a tiny Border Terrier. I was quite wary as Bella can be growly towards some dogs and particularly girl ones.
Matt said to let her off the lead and they would sort themselves out, so I did and after initially baring her teeth and giving a little growl they trotted off together. Little Emma was such a chatterbox and a delight. It turned out they only live diagonally behind us in the back entry.
I spent more time in the garden emptying the two troughs on the wall and discovering a slug farm in the bottom! Some were massive and obviously reproducing. I hosed the troughs out - after taking the slugs in a bucket up the track to their new home - then filled them up with new compost and planted the Primulas I bought yesterday. I couldn’t stay out as long as I would have liked as it was a freezing cold wind but lovely and sunny. Working in the garden is the only place I can truly forget about the rest of the world and the state it’s in.
Frank just wants to sleep mostly, he tried practising piano this morning but said he couldn’t remember or concentrate on what he was supposed to be doing. I told him he had to give in to the virus and rest, so he has.
We had Tesco’s vegan pizzas for tea - they really are delicious and thin crust my fave.

The Saturday Paper (see extra)
The paper is full of bad news
With the odd joyful photo
Like Nazanin and Gabriella
Topping the pizza dough
Bad news, war and crisis
Are now the order of the day
That’s why we only buy the paper
Once a week - on a Saturday
I like to read in depth reports
Understand the world we live in
There’s more info than on the news
Where politicians can air their spin
I admire independent journalists
Who get to the bottom of things
Like dog and bone they don’t give up
Till they’ve found out everything.
But now it’s time to put it away
And enjoy our Saturday night
Even if we end up talking about
P&O and the Ukraine’s plight.
Goodnight Blippers, hope you had a good Saturday and that it was a bit warmer where you are! I’ve got pyjamas and my fluffy onesie on. :-)X
