Greenhouse preparations
Today was a "Scottish weather day": glorious sunny spells, then blizzard, hailstones and wind. All day long.
This year, I've decided to grow most of my greenhouse plants in the ground. I knew this would take some preparation as the soil under the wooden planks is very nutrient poor and weedy.
I first had to remove all the plants (putting tender ones in the shed), shelves and planks, then gave the soil a turn over and good watering (found a wee frog in the process, which I put in the pond!), then added 4 wheelbarrows of manure and dug wooden planks in on each side to separate the beds from the middle path. And finally covered the beds with weed fabric and put the plants back in!
It's exciting to see how much of a difference having plants in the soil will make to watering and feeding needs!
