Food Growing Project. Brussel sprouts. Planters.

The Feast Day of St. Francis of Paola.

It is a pleasantly sunny, blue skied yet cold morning and 7c. After the very cold spell, this seems more bearable. I still needed a hat and warm clothes.
I have been for a walk, and  then litter picked the Church garden. Someone dumped an electric kettle of all things, in the front area of the garden near the gate. Most of the litter was beer cans, sweet wrappers and crisp packets. I filled a bin bag and put it with the recycling bins.
Then after breakfast and some housework, I went along to the Piggy Park Community Food Growing Project. i chatted with Tom, an elderly Irish man,  who was very kind and friendly, who was wearing an emerald green wool hat and attending to his onion plants.
I need to go back at 1pm to see if there are any vacant growing planters. I hope to grow some potatoes, a few herbs for cooking with, and some salad vegetables, such as  Spring onions, beetroots and radish.
On my way home I had a good roadside chat with my friend Joan, who used to be a school crossing lady for many years.
Have a lovely Saturday, blip friends and thank you for visiting my site today.
At 5:25pm I changed the photo to show a glimpse of the food growing project. It all starts now in early April. Seeds are being sown and onion sets are in the ground. Not much to see as yet but I will report on how things develop as the year progresses.
