Jazz before Stalin

At a party given by some lawyer friends of mine on the merging of their firm with some other crowd of detail sweaters from New York ("we sweat the details" - John Grisham), the band found itself framing one of Stalin's "wedding cake" buildings, the residential block for the elite (to keep them in line) on the Kotelnitskaya Embankment.
