Shingle House…Dungeness
We had a lovely break away staying in this house in Dungeness. It’s called Shingle House because of all the shingle around. Dungeness is apparently on the largest expanse of shingle on earth and is actually classified as a desert, the only one in the U.K.
It’s the third time we have stayed there as it’s such an interesting house architecturally , nice and spacious for up to eight people and in a great location with good views all around even if the weather is not the best. There is also plenty to do and see in the area. Nice to visit before the main tourist season as I’m sure it’s much more crowded then.
This photo was not taken today…today the sky was grey but the wind dropped overnight as did the temperature!
We also visited Bedgebury Forest today on the way back, a Forestry Commission property with a pinetum. A really nice ambience and visitor centre. There was so much traffic heading towards the coast!
