Gold rush history

Today has been exploring the town and surrounding areas where a major gold rush took place in 1861. Went out to Gabriel’s Gully now just a peaceful area but it was quite something to stand there and think of the tent city it was. My Blip has not been well taken but makes for interesting reading. In extras two beautiful churches now no longer in use. Impressive Catholic buildings have all been sold, Presbyterian one superb but not in use but apparently they still meet elsewhere , Methodist one now an antique shop. The town is full of cute cottages and impressive buildings like banks, courthouse etc no longer in use. The red admiral butterfly I couldn’t resist as it sunned itself on the gravel road, I moved it on to safety. Lots of interesting chimney pots in this town and some beautiful architecture. We have enjoyed our two nights here but now moving on to hopefully get some autumn colours
