We Are the Normal

We don’t get many big name celebs doing shows in Kendal, so the odd ones who do turn up here tend to sell out. Originally, we should have seen the show last November, but Grayson catching Covid meant it being postponed until last night.
Wasn’t quite sure what the show would be about (something to do with art perhaps?) and was quite surprised that the first thing we had to do was scan a QR code so we could take part in “online” polls.
Basically, he took us through a series of anecdotes and questions, all designed to find out how “normal” we were. It nearly all fell apart at the first question - “how did you vote at the last election?” - as he was expecting an answer of either Conservative or Labour, which would then determine which way he went with the rest of the show. But Kendal is one of the few areas in the country that returned a Lib Dem MP. This threw him for a while, but we were soon back on track. A very entertaining evening, which guided us through a series of scenarios and questions to prove we are all “normal”. Though it does have to be said that some of our answers were slightly at odds with the rest of the U.K.
But as an example of how all opinion polls can be configured to arrive at a “desired” result, by the end of the evening we had all agreed that Grayson’s childhood teddy bear should be our new God and that Pudsey Bear is a fascist icon!
Definitely one of those evenings where I didn’t quite know what to expect but ended up having a very enjoyable night out. And it was worth the wait.
