GA Conference - Day 2

Up early and breakfast; I had a long and busy day ahead. Fuelled up - started with some hellos and chats, then in to set up for my lecture - a lovely crowd in, including all my department - a career highlight - then it was up to chair a session with the author Cal Flyn, who has been picking up all sorts of awards for her book 'Islands of Abandonment'. She joined us from Orkney and it was a pleasure to host her.  Paula Zuccotti was unfortunately ill. Lunch in the sun with the team, and then into a session with Alan Kinder and Eleanor Rawling - I am presenting their work in Paris in July - up to meet some students; then it was the end of the first day proper and wandered up the hill to the Teachmeet - went very well - had some food at the networking event, and then down the hill to the Beermeet where lots of people bought me lots of whisky. A late night and good to chat to friends and colleagues face to face. Everyone seems to be having a lovely time.
