Towards Strontian

Coffee in a quiet part of Glencoe and lunch on the north shore of Loch Linnhe after taking the ferry over to Corran. I took the less travelled route to Glenborrodale driving along deserted roads with feral goats via Kingairloch, a sharp left into Strontian and back on to the main single track road along Loch Sunart. I think this is my favourite part of mainland Scotland. No otters, yet, several gold finches, the aforementioned goats and a great many seals.
The Ardnamurchan Bunkhouse is as warm and welcoming as ever. Since my last visit in 2016 the owners have installed a pine marten trapeze laden with peanuts, the intention is to safeguard the chickens. I’m writing this as I wait for them to arrive,  not guaranteed. Thus far the only visitors have been some red deer.
Later….. result! A pine marten appeared just after 9. I just managed to get a shot which is the second extra. Hopefully it might emerge a bit earlier tomorrow.
