Salted caramel ice cream

I made this with some caramel sauce in a fancy jar that #2 daughter brought me from holiday so long ago I can’t remember which year. I whipped it up with some cream and added a spoon of brandy and some sea salt flakes. It would have been better with a bit less salt but still, it was nice. The sun hat was still on the table from when it was not cold. Today I’m wearing vest top, t shirt, merino base layer, jumper, fleece and puffy gilet and I’m still cold. (Mr C bought a puffy gilet recently so now he is warm enough to see no need to have heating on.)

We took Chris with us to meet brother-in-law at South Middleton for a 7 mile walk in the Cheviots. It’s one of our favourite walks as the height is gained gradually and the views are far-reaching. We had rolling views to the sea before heading uphill east towards Cheviot then it was a gentle moorland walk southwards. I asked Chris to keep me company to give Mr C and his b-i-l a chance for a catch up. I had the ulterior motive of not feeling up to his predicted tirade against the Scottish Government, Nicola in particular. Nevertheless when I stopped to take a photo he nobbled me while Mr C and Chris made a dash for it, getting ahead on the descent.
