Évora continues

The grand plan was to breakfast early, explore Évora a bit more and return to Lisbon by train around 5pm. Sorted. All booked in advance. But then Évora worked its magic and we knew we needed more of it. We arranged an extra night in the hotel without any bother and then faced what we feared would be a much worse experience with the Portuguese railway system in order to change our ticket. They gave us a pleasant surprise when the process turned out to be painless.

We found a great place for lunch after soaking up some culture around the ancient Roman temple which is a tourist highlight, then wandered the streets finding place after place that reinforced our positive impression of the place. Along the way we noticed that Évora is short-listed for European Capital of Culture in 2027.

We had dinner in our hotel (very nice too) and took it really easy for the rest of the night. The spontaneous decision to spend more time here was definitely the right thing to do.
