A Long Walk
Today’s walk took us all the way down to Sandbanks at the far western and very much up-market end of the beach. Sandbanks is a spit of land that stretches out into Poole Harbour, overlooking Brownsea Island, seen here in the main photo with the castle at the water’s edge.
The Island is owned by the National Trust and is home to red squirrels. The castle was originally built by Henry VIII to defend the harbour.
We stopped for a savoury scone lunch at a cafe on the way back, then it was back to the lodge for a well earned rest and a bit of reading, having notched up over 10 miles and 25000 steps
In extras is the sunset as we walked back along the Overcliff this evening from dinner in the local Lounge bar in Southbourne.
