Roadblock
Heading to the gym this afternoon, I found a long tailback of traffic whilst a massive wagon carrying concrete slabs tried to turn down the very narrow road that leads to the small industrial estate where my gym is located. It is also the only way to get to the entrance to the building site!
After a lot of shuffling backwards and forwards he made it into the road and the banksman cheerily waved the queuing traffic through. Not so cheerful when I and a couple of other vehicles indicated our intention to follow the lorry down the road.
Because the road was so narrow, the lorry could not swing straight into the site, so we all had to sit there whilst it shuffled around to get to angle where it could finally drive in. Obviously, they need to bring materials on to site, but you’d think they’d have avoided the afternoon school run time!
My heart wasn’t really in it for the workout, but it had to be done today because we’re off for a long weekend in Chester tomorrow. And to that end, I’ve also done the ironing up to date, mown the lawns and tidied the study, because I hate going away knowing I’m leaving a mess that would have to be tackled when I got back. Which reminds me - turn the dishwasher on as soon as this journal is published!
