Probing
I photographed this Eastern Spinebill today in the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra. It is feeding in a Woolly Grevillea plant, using its long thin bill to probe for nectar. In doing that, the upper surface of its bill has been dusted with pollen, which it will transfer to the next plant it visits. Pollination for the plant, food for the bird. One of the wonders of the evolution process.
