Now, as I see it......

The Jacobite

Today we took 'The Jacobite', the steam-hauled train from Fort William to Mallaig and back.  It takes around two hours in each direction, travelling through some absolutely amazing countryside; lochs, mountains, rivers, the sea and finally the view across to the islands of Eigg and Skye.  On the way it travels over the 21 arched Glenfinnan Viaduct, made famous in the 'Harry Potter' films.  In fact, we travelled over it three times as it is on a fairly steep incline and the engine quite literally ran out of steam after it had crossed.  Unable to restart on the slope, it rolled back across the viaduct until it was able to get traction, much to the delight, no doubt, of the hundreds of people standing below taking photos.  I've added a shot of us crossing the viaduct in the extra.

My main shot is a view from the front of our B&B this morning; this is the view we have from the large picture window in our bedroom.
