Brig o’ Doon
Spent the day in Ayr, exploring Burns heritage, after a bracing walk along Ayr beach this morning (see extra).
This medieval bridge, known as Brig ‘O Doon is immortalised in one of Burns most famous poems Tom’O Shanter and Scottish artist Alexander Goudie captured the spirit of it in his famous painting ( see extra) which hangs in the nearby Rozelle art gallery.
Back home now after discovering parts of Scotland we had never visited before though we have lived here for over 40 years. (We hang our heads in shame.) So much to see and almost on our doorstep too, less than two hours away.
