1st physallis flowers
Last summer, an allotment friend gave me 2 small plants for the greenhouse; he called them 'sour cherries' and I found out they were physallis.
Anyway, mine did brilliantly and his failed (I offered to give him the plants back but he seemed genuinely happy they worked for me!). They fruited profusely all summer and I kept them watered until the worst of the wet weather.
At the end of winter, they looked very sorry for themselves but I thought I'd just prune them and check their roots, which seemed OK. As soon as the weather warmed up they started sending new shoots and very quickly turned into the triffids they were last year! They're now looking very healthy and flowering again.
The fruit were delicious last year so I'm really looking forward to another crop. I think I won't be planting them in the soil though as they're *very* vigorous plants!
