Seed Pods. Leitz Telyt-V 400mm
Judging by the shape of the leaves, I'm pretty sure this is a sycamore tree which grows in our condo garden. When Spring first begins, the new, baby leaves are bright red. Then these little seed pods appear. Those are the beige colored wing-shaped appendages. In the near future, they will break free from the tree, propelled by the wind, and spin like little helicopter rotors to lodge themselves wherever they have a chance of propagating. Given the proximity, a fair number make it into the grooves between the tiles on our balcony. There, they find some damp, and before you know it, there are little green stems poking up all over the balcony. I have to go and pluck them, one by one, roots and all. The tree and its branches were just catching the evening light, enough to entice me to bring out tripod and massive lens for a portrait.
