MORNING WALK

The plant with the small round green leaves is known locally as 'spekboom' which translated is 'fat tree'. It has the remarkable ability to take carbon dioxide out of the air and convert it to oxygen. This is great for the carbon footprint and in our village many people use it as a hedge plant. It is water wise and eaten by birds and animals and is also good in salads.
The plant with the black flowers could be a memeber of the Hoodia family. These plants when eaten are supposed to suppress your appetite. I will check it out with our local authority and do another blip tomorrow. I find the colour of the flowers so unusual.
