Marathon
Today we spent a very long cold wet day marshalling for the Windermere Marathon as a favour for our daughter who works for Brathay Trust which organises the event. The day was also the last day of the Ten in Ten. Ten marathons in ten days. Madness, but a major fundraiser for them.
We were at one of the last marshalling points so by this point everyone was very spread out. We were there about six hours and I don’t think it stopped raining for more than a few minutes. The wind was blowing the rain in sheets across the lake from behind us. We weren’t actually cold in the body with plenty of layers on but our hands were cold and wet despite gloves.
We were at least in a lovely position right by the edge of Windermere ( photo)
