Ben Lomond
After my train shenanigans last Thursday, we have arrived here in Ferniegair via a bus and two trains without incident and on time. I'm glad we are taking a couple of days to reach Aberdeen as Scotrail has issues with lack of drivers and an ASLEF work to rule which means our long journey tomorrow has been cancelled. Being here overnight with Jen and Pete means we can be up early and try for the earlier train tomorrow. Watch this space, or rather tomorrow's space.
After a yummy arancini from the Deli around the corner, Jen suggested a walk in Chatelherault and I was only to happy to concur. Travelling always makes me tired, despite having done nothing but sit on trains for several hours, so it was good to get out in to the park and woodland for a good breath of fresh air. The view from the Hunting Lodge to Ben Lomond, some fifty miles away, was clear and unrestricted so that had to be today's blip. I also took several of PD's crows which come out in the hope of having peanuts, and were not disappointed. One particularly clever one found its peanut shell too hard and so hopped it over to a puddle to soften it up. Pretty special crows.
We watched a heron fly up the river and back down as we walked the path above it and enjoyed the aroma of the ransoms. Back in the meadow, Jen spotted Pete home from work and come to find us, and we walked back together bunny spotting.
Lovely to see them, albeit briefly. Tomorrow the next leg of the adventure begins!
Thank you to Tryfan for reminding me I meant to post my very poor plastic count results. When analysed our plastic use over the week amounted to:
86 bits of plastic used
10% of which would be recycled in the UK
14% exported
27% landfilled
49% incinerated
Shocking!
If you are interested in doing the count, you can still take part up to the end of the month. See here.
