Passing by Bill's Place

This is the only blip I have taken today, through the train window, so it will have to do.

After a lovely overnight stay with Pete and Jen we continued with our journey.  Leg 4 had us on the train in to Glasgow Central from Chatelherault, a bit tricky on a commuter train with large bags but we managed okay. We had a walk up Buchanan Street to Glasgow's other station, Queen Street.  I have fond memories of this station as it was where we embarked to Oban when we cycled the Hebridean Way and I remember fondly the care taken of us by the guard.  Everyone was held back behind the barrier whilst the cyclists got on, hung their bikes safely, stowed their panniers and found their seats.

I was a little concerned today because our train had been cancelled due to a work to rule and lack of staff.  We were headed for the earlier train which was still running but I had visions of two train loads of folks being squeezed in to five carriages.  The guard corrected my use of the word 'cancelled' in favour of 'the revised timetable' (!!!)

I needn't have worried as we were allowed on to the train twenty minutes earlier than departure time and had table seats to ourselves the entire journey.  So Leg 5 had us arriving on time in Aberdeen where we paused for a bite and cuppa before boarding the bus to where we are now, the Airport Premier Inn.

As far as views out of the window go, our trips through the Dales, the Borders and Eastern Scotland have been very fine.
