Helme Chase (as was)

In March 1991, my first wife and I spent a night in this building, Helme Chase. We went in as a couple on the 15th and emerged as a family on the 16th: it was midwifery unit of Kendal Hospital, which was to be found just up on the hill behind Kendal.

By the time Hannah came along, just under two years later, the unit had moved into the new hospital just along the road. The maternity ward there was called Helme Chase, after the original building.

I walked past today on the way back from buying some lunch and thought "Yeah, it actually does feel like it's been thirty-one years!".
