The Glade Of Light

Just over five years ago, on the 22nd of May, 2017, twenty-two people were killed at the Manchester Arena in a terrorist attack. This memorial garden is just by the cathedral, a tranquil spot to remember those victims and to consider how to build a world where there is not such inequity that these things happen.

Meanwhile, yesterday, America experienced its 213th mass shooting of the year. The 27th involving a school. I have read that 109 people in America die of gun violence every day. That's pretty much five times the number of people who died in the Arena bombing. Every day.

And yet there's a gun lobby. If they lived here, they'd have been voting for Brexit. Suddenly, that seems a lot less harmful.
