Diary of an Edinburgher

Garden Centre Bonus

Well, I only watched the first two sets of the tennis last night - I suspected it would be a five setter. Amazing athletes both!

I went along to the gym when JR had returned, and I did quite a lot, including having a go on a big contraption I’ve seen sitting in the corner and nobody ever on it. Turns out it’s quite an old machine, and you sit on it and pedal with your arms. Five minutes was enough, thanks.

I also did 20 mins on the bike and the cross trainer, while watching ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ - you have to keep watching to see what they did and if they made any money. When I came home I made a ‘mug muffin’ - so quick, easy, filling and delicious!

Robert texted to ask if he could ‘borrow’ Archie in the afternoon. Yes! We delivered him at the appointed time - Archie was SO excited coming to Robert’s flat, barking hysterically, and running round the corridors to his door where he continued running round excitedly in the flat for quite a while.

We then went to the garden centre without him. JR wants to get the front garden organised - the weather hasn’t been clement enough to get stuck in yet. We went to the garden centre and I had good fun taking photos of flowers, then identifying them using my phone, and comparing the results to the actual name, which was displayed. Sometimes they differed, but could have been the Latin name compared with the common name. They also have the Heilan’ coos in nearby fields, so that was a bonus, but they were just lying down in the shade of a big tree. Yes, it was actually quite warm by the afternoon!

We got a trolley full of plants, potting mix and a solar powered cat deterrent thing for the garden. Actually, it looks like it will also chase away bears and tigers - it’s military grade.

When we came back, Robert and Archie were at the gate. Good timing (Robert was going to put Archie in the house if we were later).

It was such a lovely evening - hot, actually - that Robert was easily persuaded to come in for a beer and a sit in the sunshine. We caught up on his news (he’s sold his flat and bought another one!) and filled him in on a few of our favourite champagne facts. Sunhats were needed! Could this be our long awaited spring at last… (9,172 steps).

Check out the favourite scratching spot, and the annoying sunshine … (Extras)
