Bambi steak anyone?

We sorted out stuff for our trip then Ailie called. We are planning to finish our Dales Way walk when I get back. We started doing it in stages about 6 years ago with Chris and Margaret and have only 24 miles to do. Margaret has booked a very expensive cabin in Kendal so we’ll have 2 cars, leaving one at the end of each day’s walk then all driving to the start. It means driving back for the start car but it’s easy where we are now, compared with the mid-section where roads were few and far between.

I had a 4.5 mile walk on the moor where I saw this deer on my way back.

I used up the last of the fridge slurry to make soup with some limp celery and wizened carrot, a potato and some ginger. I also made some garlic mushrooms which we’ll have with fried padron peppers and toast.

There’s been crowds in London for the platinum jubilee. I’m not a royalist but I’m glad people were able to enjoy it - glad they are not having a funeral tea instead and she survived to enjoy it.
