Beacon?
Another day with family visiting. A mix of watching Trooping the Colour, a walk up Blackford Hill, various emails and gardening.
In the evening we went to Tapa in Leith for a really enjoyable meal. On the way back we had to drive up Leith Walk on the “wrong” side of the road and on the newly laid tram tracks. See extra. I doubt we will do that again with so little traffic.
At the top of the walk, as I was a passenger, I took the main blip of Wellington’s statue. As we headed up North Bridge we strained to see if the beacon had been lit on the castle to mark Her Majesty’s platinum jubilee. But the hoardings and roadworks prevented us from seeing anything.
Looking back at the main photo, however, I see that the time was just after the scheduled lighting and I wonder if one of the lights on the castle walls is the beacon. Who knows? Given that I will not see a platinum jubilee again I’d like to think so.
