Waverley

I took the vintage iMac into the Apple store today. Although I bought it new about 6 years ago it is a late 2013 model and is about to become obsolete. Despite the machine passing their tests, the conclusion from the error reports I get is that there are some bad sectors on the hard drive which cause the computer to keep shutting down.

Options: get a replacement hard driven or spend 8 -10 times that amount on a new machine.

Replacement hard drive ordered.

The bus got me there in very good time so I had a chance to wander round before my appointment. Despite leaving the house in warm sunshine 2 miles away, the centre of Edinburgh was still shrouded in haar. The viewpoint from the lift access to Waverley provided a good view of the station’s glass roof.
