Falling For Yalding
The second day of the Jubilee holiday and it was time for another micro trip. This time we decided on a short visit to the nearby village of Yalding.
I'd forgotten what a lovely place it is as we haven't been there for a few years - it was looking particularly resplendent in the glorious summer sunshine and bedecked with all its Jubilee paraphernalia, as today's image shows. Even the Queen decided to put in an appearance!
Whilst we were there we thought it would be rude not to frequent a local hostelry (Yalding has three pubs) and settled on The Yew Tree (which is actually a sister pub to our very own Chequers at Aylesford). Curiously the landlady seemed more than happy to tell us that most of the beers weren't available (they were waiting for a delivery due to being extremely busy yesterday) but we settled on a pint of London lager and it was thoroughly enjoyable sitting in the shady part of the pub garden.
It was then time for a stroll around the village taking in its magnificent medieval bridge, beautiful churchyard and Georgian houses with a spot of added people watching as the locals were setting up for a Jubilee party.
