A walk in the mountains

We were up early today catching a 7.10am bus as the next one wasn't until 10.20 and we wanted to walk in the cooler part of the day.  We got off at Kala Nera walking along the road to spot the starting point.  It was a good walk along donkey trails to start with. We got lost several times and at one point walked past a group of barking dogs four times. The last time the noisy aggressive dog couldn't be bothered to get up and bark at us. We were lost because the map showed a turn to the right as a main road in fact it was a narrow dirt track but we had some amazing views, see extra, and also some very steep climbs. We arrived in Milies around 12.30 for a well deserved coffee and lunch.

It was fairly cloudy to start with but the sun came out later. Lots of butterflies were flitting around orange and yellow ones, blue, black and white and orange brown ones. Lovely to see and lots of wild flowers.  Fortunately the route back down was much easier to follow and equally attractive.  We walked about 12.5 miles in all and treated ourselves to a very nice seafood meal in the evening.
