Field of lupine

I pass this lovely field on my way to the school. The house nearby is owned by summer people who aren't here yet. No one minded when I pulled in their driveway and wandered over to take a photo. Even though lupines are not native to Maine they have become part of the scenery along the road ways and fields. I would love to get them going in our front field but they seem to be stubborn. And then I drive by this one with them everywhere. The original lupine lady was Hilda Hamlin who spread seeds along the road ways. There is a charming children's book called Miss Rumphius based on Ms. Hamlin. This link talks mostly about the book. This link  talks about Hilda Hamlin.
