Awaiting right of way!
The first Railway Experience Day (RXD) of the new era. First since October 2019. Today’s participants had booked on courses over two years ago little knowing how long they would end up waiting.
In the morning we had a dry run with railway staff in the place of participants, reminding ourselves of the various procedures and processes and ironing out any problems. We all had a go at driving and firing the loco along different sections of the line. I enjoyed doing a run around at Bodiam ready to return to Tenterden.
The afternoon session went really well with all participants and their guests having a great time as we rolled through the Kent and Sussex countryside.
We’ve got RXDs most Mondays now until end of July. And quite a few more participants from ore covid days to get through before opening up to new people.
