Bristlecone pines

I''ve been back in the White Mountains visiting the bristlecone pines again. I found this dead log that appealed to me years ago when I first photographed it and included it in my book about the bristlecones. It is along the Methuselah trail, a four mile loop, which I walked twice because the light was against me in the morning.
