Gutting Lasses Mural
A warmer day again, mostly sunny, but cooler when a cloud passed over, and breezy at times.
Up fairly early, and headed out after breakfast. We headed into Great Yarmouth, and the Time and Tide museum. What a wonderful museum and displays, on a par with the Shetland museum. Next stop was along the GY beach and waterfront. Plenty to see and do, also headed up the big ferris wheel. We headed into Wroxham, and visited the Miniature Worlds, then a late lunch by the river. Packed the bags this evening, then heading out for a father's day meal.
A great day exploring, and where Shetlanders have been known well in the past. The museum was fascinating, giving a great look into the local herring industry, and even a mention from Shetland gutting lasses, who once travelled the length of the country working in the herring trade. It's great to see the women's role in the fishing industry being told, and more acknowledged in recent times. This mural was a lovely tribute next to the museum. Taken on Well Road, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
