Bistort ( Persicaria bistorta )
Day 19 of 30 days wild.
While I am basically feeling normal, cutting the grass has shown me that I am very definitely not back to normal. I found the exercise positively exhausting.
The Bistort are past their best but I wasn't out and about when they were at their best so a bit of a ropey shot. Bistort are members of the Polygonaceae. It is edible and used to be used, in Cumbria at least, to make a sort of herb pudding. In some areas, it is known as "Pudding Dock". The Cumbrian name for it was Eastermagiants.
