Craig Varr

Above Kinloch Rannoch there is a promontory which sticks out of the hills, it is Craig Varr and our (my) plan was to walk up to it today.

Firstly we returned to Aberfeldy to get some coffee beans ground and that led to a very enjoyable visit to other shops.

Back at the lodge it became clear that my climbing colleague was rather nervous about this walk, it's described as strenuous, steep and rough in places.

I am very pleased to say she conquered her fears and off we went.

The start was a steep and strenuous climb but then leveled out as we crossed a bog. The next part was the scary part, a narrow sheep path crossing a steep hillside. RF continued for some distance then admitted she had to stop, way beyond where she was comfortable, what a trooper!!

I continued to the cairn at the top, inscribed to Alick Reynolds, "A man who loved hills" Good afternoon Sir, hope you are enjoying the fantastic view.

A short run back to the lovely lady then we returned along the scary part before she could relax again and enjoy the walk back down.

Thank you lovely lady!

Extras are the fantastic all round view from the top and the cloud over Scheihallion we watched as we relaxed back at the lodge.
