On The Edge Of Things

High contrast backlit iris leaves. The hot weather continues and lots of sun makes for difficult shooting, but by turning down the exposure compensation I could push the background into darkness.

I liked the drama of having most of the leaves with only rim lighting around their edges. Just a couple are more translucent. I chose to push the things that are different to the edge of the image; it's like having a little surprise, an unexpected placement, a bit uncomfortable. Normally they might be a distraction, but here the higher contrast in the centre wins out.
