Spring-time pond
I had to spend several hours on the laptop today looking up locations to check if they could be reached by public transport so I can fill out some documents that need to be sent back. Fortunately I was able to get most of it done before I had to leave the house this afternoon.
On my way to the sanctuary I stopped at the artificial island again but this time I was unable to capture anything interesting there. One of the Great Crested Grebes had come back but, even with the camera on full digital zoom, it stayed to far away to get any good shots. One of the blurry ones that I managed to take did reveal that the parent was carrying three grebelets on its back.
Unfortunately the swan had chosen to stand up just before I started walking back to my bicycle and I missed getting a good look at the eggs! I only caught a very brief glimpse of a few of them and can only hope that none of them have hatched yet. Hopefully she will allow me a better look at them tomorrow afternoon.
I didn't have time to look for a better blip at the park after my walk with one of the sanctuary's dogs because I had to do some shopping on the way home and I couldn't stop at the island again on the way back either. There are no bicycle racks near the island and mine was so heavily loaded that it definitely would not have stayed upright on its own.
Fortunately I'd taken one photo with the compact camera during my walk with Brutus when we walked past the small pond at the park at almost the same spot where I'd photographed it in March when we were still having snow. Today's blip couldn't look more different though with the cherry tree that has started to blossom, the little waterfall that has been switched on and the sun that has been shining almost the entire day.
Thank you for the lovely comments and stars on my Coots blip from yesterday. They are all very much appreciated. :)
