here, there, everywhere

It was the day for my monthly walk with Fiona. We have been exploring the hills around Langholm, and today we walked for just under 10 miles around Meikledale.

Surprisingly, the weather was really good all day and we were walking in t-shirts (except for Jess, who was in a fur coat). The first and last parts were on tracks, but the middle part over the hills was mostly pathless and over damp clumps of moss and cloudberry, with heather higher up. I had never seen cloudberries growing before - lots of red berries and we ate some blaeberries as well.

The photo was taken at our lunch spot about halfway round: we had to sit on a road sign and put up with flies but we didn't rest for very long. There was a nicer spot later on near the Meikledale Burn where we sat in the sun and Jess swam in the burn. See the extra for a taste of the wonderful scenery.

My feet are tired now and so am I so I'm going to have a nice restful evening :-)
