Bad News Day
Patrick O’Loughlan, Pat, my brother-in-law of forty plus years passed away yesterday, as well as my brother-in-law Pat was my friend. Pat had found the last four years since my sister Susan passed away tough going, he continued to live in the house where Sue died and that played on his mind, affecting his mental well being, not an easy time for his family as we are coming to realise now.
I last caught up with Pat at the end of April/beginning of May and although he was a shadow of the man he once was he seemed ok. We all like to believe that we keep in touch but sadly modern living means families no longer live in the same towns, county’s or even countries.
Mobile devices mean that texts, e-mails and social media are depriving us of that level of human contact which we all need.
Today I also attended my first National Armed Forces Day 2023, (NAFD23), meeting, a lunch to meet face to face, put faces to names and look broadly at what it might mean to the town and community.
More mundane items included a new back door screen curtain and preparations for tomorrows drive to finish the coal bunker.
