Man’s Best Friend….

….Or Vice Versa
It was hot, Mrs S enjoying a day off, one of three this week, was to be pampered, that was the plan.
Bacon sandwich and tea in the garden, cold drinks brought to her through the day whilst she relaxed in the sun feet dangling in Paddy’s pool.
Sunday dinner was planned for later in the evening as it cooled, to be eaten outside with the vegetables cooked in a cheese sauce, one of her favourites, plus mint Vienetta ice cream for dessert.

Late afternoon it got so hot that I drove down to one of Falmouth’s pubs that has an outside kiosk selling dog ice cream. The look on Paddy’s face as he tucked in - priceless.

Dinner was almost ready when Mrs S’s mobile rang, listening to her side of the conversation my heart sank as she grabbed her bag and headed off to Treliske for her sixth thirteen hour shift in eight days.
When she eventually arrived home she opted to eat her dinner cold before heading for a shower and bed ready for her next shift tomorrow.

The doorstep clapping for our nurses seems distant memory now.
